Job Purpose

Responsible for executing the procurement of feed raw materials through international commodity sourcing, market analysis, supplier negotiations, trade execution, and cross-functional coordination — ensuring uninterrupted supply, competitive cost, and effective supply risk management in support of the company's operational and financial objectives.

Key Accountabilities

Commodity Procurement
- Execute the procurement of feed raw materials to ensure uninterrupted production and optimum inventory levels.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives and procurement plans.
- Execute RFQs, tenders, commercial evaluations, negotiations, and purchase agreements.
- Execute commodity purchases in line with approved purchasing strategies and the Delegation of Authority, meeting quality, cost, and delivery targets.

Market Intelligence & Cost Management
- Monitor international and local commodity markets, CBOT futures, freight movements, exchange rates, and supply-demand trends.
- Analyse global market fundamentals and recommend purchasing strategies that capitalise on favourable market conditions.
- Develop total landed cost analyses to support sourcing decisions and identify cost optimisation opportunities without compromising supply reliability.
- Support budgeting and forecasting with market intelligence and commodity outlooks.

Supplier Management
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key local and international suppliers, brokers, and logistics partners.
- Evaluate supplier performance against quality, delivery, pricing, and service KPIs, and conduct business reviews with improvement plans where required.
- Identify alternative sourcing opportunities to reduce supply risk.

Contract & Risk Management
- Negotiate and execute international purchase contracts securing favourable pricing, payment terms, and contractual conditions.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, the Delegation of Authority, Incoterms, and contractual obligations.
- Identify supply chain risks and implement mitigation through supplier diversification and contingency planning.
- Monitor supplier contractual performance and resolve commercial issues.

Trade Execution
- Coordinate execution of international purchase contracts from award through to cargo receipt, monitoring shipment schedules, vessel movements, and arrival dates.
- Coordinate with Logistics on shipment execution, discharge planning, and material availability; with Finance on payments and trade documentation; and with Quality on inspection and cargo acceptance.
- Resolve operational issues affecting deliveries.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Planning, Manufacturing, Finance, Logistics, and Quality to align procurement activity with production requirements.
- Support the S&OP process with procurement updates and commodity market outlooks, and participate in strategic sourcing and business improvement projects.

Cost Optimisation & Process Excellence
- Drive continuous improvement to enhance procurement efficiency, including automation, analytics, and best practice.
- Develop and maintain procurement cost models to optimise total landed cost.
- Prepare procurement reports, commodity outlooks, savings reports, and supplier performance dashboards.

Policies, Processes & Governance
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of commodity procurement policies, procedures, and governance.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and management reports, and support internal and external audits.

What We’re Looking For

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Agriculture, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional procurement certification preferred.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in procurement or commodity buying.
  • Experience within FMCG, agriculture, feed, grain trading, or food manufacturing is preferred.
