JOB PURPOSE:

The Control Room Operator is responsible for monitoring and controlling milling operations through centralized automated systems to ensure safe, stable, and efficient production. The role maintains process parameters within approved standards, responds to operational alarms and deviations, and coordinates with field, maintenance, and quality teams to support production continuity, product quality, and compliance with safety and food safety requirements. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Monitor and control milling equipment and production processes through SCADA, PLC, and other automated control systems. 
    Adjust operating parameters within approved limits to maintain production efficiency, product quality, and process stability. 
    Continuously monitor system alarms, equipment status, process trends, and deviations and take appropriate first-line corrective action. 
    Escalate equipment failures, process abnormalities, or safety concerns to the relevant supervisor or maintenance team when required. 
    Coordinate closely with field operators to ensure smooth equipment start-up, shutdown, changeover, and production activities. 
    Record production parameters, operational readings, downtime, alarms, and major shift events accurately. 
    Prepare and communicate shift reports and ensure effective handover between shifts. 
    Support the achievement of production plans by identifying and communicating operational bottlenecks or performance issues. 
    Coordinate with Quality teams to ensure production output meets required product specifications and quality standards. 
    Follow approved operating procedures, work instructions, production recipes, and process control requirements. 
    Comply with all Health, Safety, Environment, Food Safety, and hygiene requirements and immediately report unsafe conditions or practices. 
    Support efficient utilization of equipment, energy, and raw materials to minimize production losses and operating costs. 
    Participate in troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, continuous improvement, and process optimization initiatives. 
    Support automation and operational excellence initiatives aimed at improving plant reliability and productivity. 
    Provide guidance and on-the-job support to junior operators on control-room procedures and operating practices. 
    Perform any other duties assigned by the line manager in line with operational and business requirements. 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualifications: 
Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Milling Technology, Process Operations, or a related technical discipline. 
Experience 
2–5 years of relevant experience in control room, process operations, milling, food manufacturing, or a similar industrial environment.
